How 4D Works

4D is one of the simplest number games around:

  • Choose any four-digit number from 0000 to 9999.
  • That gives 10,000 possible numbers in every draw.
  • Each draw picks 23 winning numbers: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize, plus 10 Special (Starter) and 10 Consolation numbers.
  • If your number matches a winning number covered by your bet type, you win.

A single straight number has a 1 in 10,000 chance of matching 1st Prize, at every operator.

Malaysian draws take place in the evening, and operators also announce special draws, often on selected Tuesdays. Bets close before each draw starts. The exact cut-off time is shown in the lobby.

Big vs Small: Your First Choice

Many players buy both on the same number. A top-three hit then pays twice.

Box, iBox and Roll: Cover More Numbers

Not sure about the order of your digits? Permutation bets cover every arrangement.

Your NumberPatternPermutations
1234All different24
1123One pair12
1122Two pairs6
1112Three the same4
  • Box: buys every permutation as a full bet. Cost = stake x permutations. Any hit pays the full prize.
  • iBox / mBox: covers every permutation for a single stake (called mBox at Magnum and iBox at Sports Toto and Da Ma Cai). The prize is shared across the permutations, so a 24-permutation hit pays roughly 1/24 of the straight prize.
  • Roll: fix three digits and roll the fourth through 0-9, for example R234 covers 0234 to 9234. That’s 10 numbers for 10 times your stake.

Official Prize Table (per RM1)

Magnum 4D, Sports Toto and Da Ma Cai publish the same standard table for classic 4D:

Prize TierBigSmall
1st PrizeRM2,500RM3,500
2nd PrizeRM1,000RM2,000
3rd PrizeRM500RM1,000
Special (x10)RM180–
Consolation (x10)RM60–

Official operator prize table, last checked 14 October 2026. The payout for each bet on Slot Malaysia is shown on your bet slip before you confirm.

Example: a RM1 Big + RM1 Small ticket that hits Magnum 1st Prize returns RM2,500 + RM3,500 = RM6,000. A RM1 iBox on a 24-permutation number that hits 1st Prize returns about RM104 (RM2,500 / 24).

Smart 4D Habits

  • Pick numbers you enjoy. Every number has the same chance, so dates and lucky numbers are as good as any.
  • Know your total cost. Box and Roll multiply your stake, so check the bet slip total.
  • Use iBox for small budgets. You cover every order for one stake, with a smaller prize per hit.
  • Set a weekly 4D budget and stick to it.
